Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping is one of the most useful tools for the forest manager.
Sizemore and Sizemore uses the most up-to-date data recorder and GPS units available to ensure we provide the most accurate data for our forest owners.
GIS software can then be used to manage the data provided by the GPS units. GIS mapping is most commonly used in forest management to draw property boundaries, calculate acreage and stratify different timber types on a tract of forestland. The GIS software also allows attributes to be tied to each stand of timber, which is especially important when managing large ownerships on multiple tracts of land.
